Today I was at the doctor's office reading a pregnancy magazine. It talked about the importance of not giving into all your cravings just because your pregnant? WHAT?!? I thought being pregnant was the only valid excuse for giving into cravings. :)
In all seriousness, I realize the importance of self control and overcoming "
emotional eating" but I also don't think it's that big of a deal to splurge once in a while. In my research today, I found a great article about cravings. It made me do a little self-evaluation.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the topic. What do you do to avoid succumbing to your food cravings? How can you tell the difference between emotional eating and just plain 'ole everyday eating?

I have found most often that my cravings are the result of a nutritional need. If I want a half a pint of ice cream, it is probably because I need calories. It's just a matter of what you do with the information that you are getting from your body! So when I want that ice cream, I (usually) eat something first, then have a reasonable dose.
Eat what you want just run MORE!
I haven't read the article, but I have read that cravings may mean you're deficient in something, so they shouldn't just be ignored.
