Cinco de Mayo 5K

On Friday I ran the Cinco de Mayo 5K with my friend Andrea (not really with...she totally smoked me) and we both had a great time. We've been running in the morning along with a couple of other girls. They are training for the Aquarium Half Marathon which I'm opting out of because I'm pregnant. I'm SO pumped for all of them and can't wait to see them cross the finish line after 13.1. It's going to be awesome!!One of the many things that I enjoyed about the race was seeing all the No Boundaries Runners from Fleet Feet. (It's a couch to 5K program.) I'm totally inspired by watching people work to meet a goal and then achieving it. Another things I liked was meeting so many awesome moms.
This is Sara with her cute kids. From what I understand her three year old little boy ran the entire one mile fun run. Pretty amazing...his mom must be a great example. When I talked with Sara, she said that she ran as a way to stay in shape and also to get out of the house. She said that running gave her freedom. I've run for a long time but I have to say that after having a kid I more fully appreciate the time out of the house that running offers me. Thanks for sharing Sara.
I can't wait to hear from my other running moms about why they run and/or what motivates them.
