Take Time to Smell the Roses

I just read the best New York Times article about "slow runners." In short, it talks about how running slowly lets you better "experience" the race. I've quoted my favorite part below, but I really hope you take the time to read it for yourself. It made my Friday even happier. :)

Greg Meyer, who in 1983 was the last American man to win the Boston Marathon, says that when he hears such complaints from average marathoners, he replies, “If it wasn’t for the run-walkers, you wouldn’t be finishing in front of anybody.

What a GREAT article. I'm always the slowest among my running friends and I learned long ago that I'm either going to be slow, enjoy it, and keep doing it or go too fast, hate every step and never do another race. That's why I prefer to run alone, no pressures, just running for the sake of running and enjoying it. Great perspective, does this mean you're going to slow down Em?
