Happy Girl
I've been in a running slump since the marathon. I was sore for a while and then we had a family vacation....excuses, excuses, excuses. I feel like every time I go out for a run, I am sluggish and less than excited to put in the miles. This has rarely been the case in the past. Once I'm out there I usually feel great. Yesterday morning was no different. Run ... tired ... unexcited. Last night after I put my baby to bed, I decided that I'd just go for a little walk. As I was walking, I felt energized and excited about being out in the heat (weird I know). One of my favorite songs started playing on my ipod, "Happy Girl" by Martina McBride and then girl power music came on, Kelly Clarkson. It was great. As I was walking, I realized how much I love exercising and being outside. I know I've said it before, but I think it's important to take it easy every once in a while. You don't have to all out sprint every time you run. Sometimes you just need to get out there and enjoy the day. I'm grateful that I had that reminder yesterday. If you're feeling less than enthusiastic about exercise, try to take it easy and do something a little different. Remember...the point is to feel good about yourself when you're done.
